HEMSCHEIDT Rail’s front-end systems (HEFES) offer fully integrated complete nose module systems for trams and light rail vehicles (LRV) – from the bumper to the energy absorption element. Developed in accordance with the highest standards and precisely tailored to the specific requirements of operators and OEMS, we provide customized solutions from a single source.
For both new LRV projects or for the modernization of existing vehicles, HEMSCHEIDT systems stand for safety, efficiency and the highest technical performance.
The complete system includes all relevant components: robust bumpers made of GRP or polyurethane (PU), high-performance dampers and energy absorption elements and appropriate front-end mechanisms as required. Thanks to their modular design, our systems can be flexibly integrated into a wide range of vehicle concepts.

Front-End-Kinematics
Our front-end kinematic solutions (HEFEK) developed and manufactured in Germany, are based on proven approaches and decades of experience. They allow for safe and efficient movement of the nose module, for example for maintenance access or coupling activities. The mechanics of each system are individually tailored for modern LRV front-end requirements and can be flexibly adjusted for different vehicle concepts.

Energy absorption elements
Our energy absorption elements (HEFECA) have been specially developed to provide controlled energy absorption in the event of a collision. They are an essential part of modern safety concepts, increasing the safety of passengers and pedestrians as well as the vehicle structure.
We supply energy absorption elements either as single components or as part of a complete system, as required. The modular design facilitates integration in a wide range of vehicles types and front-end systems.
