HEMSCHEIDT Rail’s dampers for intercar connections (HEICD) – also known as intercar dampers or gangway dampers – ensure reliable damping between the cars of trams and light rail vehicles. They reduce vibrations and shocks that occur during rail operations – for example, when entering and exiting curves, during acceleration and braking, or when passing over switches and uneven track sections.
Through the targeted absorption and redirection of the resulting forces, our gangway dampers contribute to smoother and more stable ride dynamics. This, in turn, provides greater passenger comfort and reduced material stresses, thereby extending the service life for all affected vehicle components.
Customized systems
for articulated trains
HEMSCHEIDT Rail develops customized damping systems for articulated trains that are exactly tailored to customer requirements and to the available installation space. With our extensive engineering expertise in development, calculation and production, we can also provide customized dampers in addition to standard solutions. These dampers feature special functions such as spring dampers with integrated return force for self-centering.
Damper features at a glance
