HEMSCHEIDT Rail’s automatic leveling system (HELCS) provides highly precise and adaptive solutions for controlling the ride height of trains such as light rail vehicles (LRV), regional trains and metro systems.
The system dynamically levels the vehicle height, independent of load or operating conditions, significantly enhancing passenger comfort, safety and ride stability.
Intelligent control of the system is provided by an electronic control unit (ECU), that is continuously registering vehicle data. On this basis, damping and vehicle height are continuously adjusted in real time.
The system’s combination of dampers and integrated height sensors, proportionally regulated damper valves, and elastic rubber-metal bearings enables precise, vibration-free and durable operation.
The automatic leveling system at a glance
- Automatic level control with variable damping (tension, compression, end stop)
- Carbody lifting and lowering for optimal boarding heights at the platform
- Ride height adjustment through integrated sensor system and adaptive control
- Progressive spring rate for consistent ride comfort with varying loads
- Primary and secondary accumulators for a constant natural frequency
- Ride-height monitoring and integrated strut controller
- Weight-optimized design with low-friction sealing technology
- High isolation from the vehicle frame through elastic mounting
- Enables step-free boarding and exiting
